If you're wanting to get rid of your debt payments, a debt payoff calculator is a great tool to use.

Here are 3 of the best (completely free) calculators:

Vertex42 - if you're not sure which debt payoff method to use

  • Easily compare the different debt payoff methods
  • Shows you the amount of interest you will pay and your debt payoff date with each method.
  • Lets you customize your payoff method.
  • Gives you a payment schedule.
  • Lets you download the file to keep without re-entering your info.
  • It is a spreadsheet download.  All of the formulas are created and you don't need to know how to work spreadsheets - you just enter in your info.

Debt Snowball Calculator - if you want to use the debt snowball method

If you want to use the debt snowball method, there are a lot of calculator's out there.  Dave Ramsey’s calculator is my favorite.

  • It's very simple to use.
  • It will show you your debt payoff date.
  • It lets you add in extra monthly payments to see how much faster you can pay off your debt.
  • It doesn't let you add in extra 1-time payments (like a bonus or tax refund).

Calculator.net - if you want to use the debt avalanche method

  • It's very simple to use.
  • It lets you add in extra monthly payments, extra yearly, and extra 1-time payments. This is great if you get a bonus, sell something, etc...
  • It tells you how long it will take to pay off your debt, but doesn't give you an exact date.

Have you ever used a debt payoff calculator?  If so, which one?
